I'll dominate 'legitimate combatant' Paul - Joshua
Anthony Joshua prepares to battle Jake Paul in an eight-round match which will be shown live on Netflix.
British boxer Anthony Joshua declared he will "overwhelm entirely" Jake Paul and "overpower" his opponent as the pair met personally to publicize the upcoming heavyweight fight.
Former twice world heavyweight champion Joshua battles YouTuber-turned-boxer Jake Paul - in what is, on paper, a huge mismatch - at Miami venue on 19 December.
Boxer's Mentality
"I will break his face and break his body up. My goal is to show I'm superior," the British boxer, 35, declared.
"I plan to overwhelm him. That's how fighters think.
"I'm going to seriously aim to hurt him. That's what I want to do."
Civil Interaction
Despite these statements, a calm Anthony Joshua and internet personality Paul - typically known for his dramatics - exchanged pleasantries and remained civil with each other.
Jake Paul instead targeted ex Joshua opponent Francis Ngannou and described him as "ridiculous" after the Cameroonian turned down a fight offer.
Taking Aim at Fury
Joshua, in the meantime, criticized UK opponent Fury - and declined a million-pound wager 'Tyson Fury' says he will place on a Paul win.
"Jake Paul is better than Tyson Fury - he's present here," Joshua said.
"I give him credit for that."
Legitimate Opponent
Despite stating he plans to damage his opponent, Joshua declined to speak negatively about his rival's boxing ability.
"Jake is a legitimate boxer," he stated.
Paul's Background
Jake Paul - who initially became famous on the television network - has mainly boxed mixed martial artists or past-their-prime fighters since entering professional boxing.
He lost to British fighter Fury in 2023.
Financial Success
Nevertheless, the relative newcomer is still one of boxing's greatest commercial attractions, regularly earning huge earnings.
Forecast and Belief
The 28-year-old anticipated a KO victory in rounds four or five and asserted he would derail the highly-expected match between Joshua and Fury, which is apparently being planned for 2026.
"It's going to be myself against Tyson Fury in the coming year," Paul said.
Size Difference
As Joshua and Paul met for the usual stare-down, with their size difference clearly visible, it emphasized just how surprising this entire matchup is - and how remarkable it is that the fight is really proceeding.
